5.a-a. MT; LXX: “rejoice with me today.” Hertzberg explains LXX as an attempt to avoid the difficulty that only the family—and not the elders—actually participated in the sacrifice. Wellhausen and many others interpret MT as a revision of LXX, which they consider original. 7.a. Construe גבה as an infinitive construct rather than as an adjective (Driver, BHK). 7.b. Read כאשר with LXX; MT: אשר. 7.c-c. Read יראה הארם ידאה האלהים. Cf. LXX. MT lacks the last two words by haplography (homoioteleuton).
